What are your hours and where is the shop located? I am in the shop Tuesday-Saturday from Noon-8:00 PM. Always call before stopping by to make sure I haven't left early or taken the day off. The shops address is 2719 Berlin Turnpike Newington CT and the phone number is (860) 372-4841.
How Old do I have to be to get a Tattoo?
You must be 16 years of age with a parent and proper ID's and birth certificate to get a tattoo. If you are 18 years or older we just need a valid ID. By law, we have to photocopy everyones ID for our records to prove that we're checking ID's. If you're 75 years old and want a tattoo, you need your ID. NO EXCEPTIONS.You will not get tattooed that day. ID's must be valid State or Government issued ID's such as Licenses, Passports, Drivers Permits, Liquor ID's, and Registry ID's. Birth Certificates must have parents name listed.
I really want a tattoo, but I don't know what I want. What should I do?
You should wait until you know what you want. I am more than happy to give you the great tattoo that you are looking for. My job, however, is to do the tattoo and help with technical questions, size restrictions, color theory and placement...not to decide for you what you should get. Relying on other people (especially strangers) to tell you what to get is a very bad idea and will no doubt result in a tattoo that you'll regret. Nobody says you have to get a tattoo today, there is no deadline. Put some thought into it and everyone will be happy in the long run.
How bad does it hurt?
A tattoo is very tolerable, but everyones pain threshold is different from one person to another. If you hype yourself up into thinking it's going to hurt alot, it absolutely will, because you will be more sensitive to the tattoo process since you've already convinced yourself that it is going to hurt. If you relax and let the tattoo artist do their job, it will go by quicker and easier if you're not jumping around and your experience will be much more satisfying.
How much does an average tattoo cost?
This is impossible to determine since there is no "average" tattoo. There are many factors which determine the price of a tattoo. If you are looking for a quote the more specific you can be the easier it will be for me to quote you. Show any references that are close to what you are looking for (photos, sketches..etc). Let me know size, location of the body, color verses black and gray as well as lettering style. The shop minimum is $60 and the hourly rate is $100. Just remember if your looking to price-shop a tattoo, you should be shopping for quality over quantity. It's on you forever and the disappointment of bad tattoos lasts longer than the satisfaction of a good deal.
How do I make an appointment for a tattoo?
( A $50 deposit is required for all appointments. It will go towards your tattoo to insure that you will show up as scheduled.)
You will need to come into the shop to make an appointment so that I can discuss your plans with you in person to make sure that we are both on the same page. This way we can examine the skin, evaluate what we are working with and estimate a time frame on how much time to book with you. All of these things are impossible to do over the phone. I can try to make an exception for some out-of-state clients via email if you present me with the above mentioned info, pictures, size etc. If I am able to determine how much time is needed for an appointment you will be able to call and book the appointment and leave a deposit with your credit card. What do I have to do to take care of my tattoo, and how long does it take to heal?
I will provide you with oral and written aftercare instructions that you must follow strictly. Tattoos generally take about 3-4 weeks on average to fully heal, although healing times vary from person to person. Again, your aftercare instructions must be followed perfectly or you could risk longer healing times, loss of color, infection, and a host of other potential problems.
